Beaujolais Nouveau, I don’t even know her! If you’ve enjoyed a glass of Nouveau with Thanksgiving dinner, or otherwise celebrated Beaujolais Nouveau Day (usually the third Tuesday in November), then you MUST try a Cru Beaujolais. Cru Beaujolais is a special beast – fresh red fruit flavors, baking spice, soft and velvety tannins, and zingy acidity all come together to make a complex and delicious wine that is awesome on its own and incredible with our favorite Thanksgiving favorites.
Vinted by the younger brother of Cru Beaujolais legend Julien Sunier, this wine is organically farmed, only using indigenous yeasts, and goes through whole cluster fermentation. It’s aged 8 months on the lees in 90% neutral burgundy barrels and 10% concrete tanks and bottled with no fining or filtration.
This old vine Morgon from the highly regarded sector of Grand Cras has an earthy and energetic profile reflective of its rocky soils. There is a plushness and drinkability that gives early enjoyment, but the structure promises a few good years ahead.
Deep violet. Primary, mineral-tinged cherry, black raspberry and violet aromas take on a spicy nuance with air. Offers densely packed yet lively dark berry, cherry preserve and spiced cake flavors and a touch of cola. Betrays no rough edges and shows excellent clarity on a strikingly long, subtly tannic finish that emphatically echoes the floral and mineral notes.
Award-Winning Wine Lists
Both Posana and our sister restaurant Bargello hold distinguished awards from Wine Spectator. Posana was Asheville’s only independent restaurant in 2014 to be awarded Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. They have continued to achieve that level of recognition through 2018 when they kicked things up a notch and earned Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence, once again to be the only independent restaurant in Asheville to achieve this level of recognition. Posana’s cellar focuses on sourcing wine from small production vineyards with a focus on organic, sustainable, or biodynamic growing and production principles. Posana has maintained Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence consistently since 2018. Recipients of Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence offer a wine list displaying “an excellent breadth across multiple winegrowing regions and/or significant vertical depth of top producers, along with superior presentation. Typically offering 350 or more selections, these restaurants are destinations for serious wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service team.”
Bargello, opening in October of 2019, launched with a magnificent wine list curated by Sommelier Emily Dunnaway and went on to receive the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator in 2020. We look forward to sharing our collections with you!
